England Men’s Cricket Team Medical Officer

The England & Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Science & Medicine Department is seeking expressions of interest for a Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician to join the England Medical Panel, to help achieve the aims of optimising England's best players’ availability and performance through ‘minimising the impact of injury & illness on the availability & performance.’
The physician will be expected to share travelling with the other members of the medical panel providing year round cover for the England Men’s Cricket team. The role will be on a part-time basis. Outside of this role the Medical Officer will be expected to contribute to Science and Medicine department aims and objectives that encompass the development and governance of Sport and Exercise Medicine within professional cricket. The candidates will be expected to be excellent Sports Physicians, providing leadership and be able to coordinate and provide first class medical care including illness and injury management, prevention and rehabilitation to all England Men’s team members and support staff. An interest in cricket is desirable but not essential.
The candidate will have specific responsibility for conducting leading elite Sports Medicine delivery as part of a travelling multi-disciplinary team whilst receiving support from the National Cricket Performance Centre and working with other members of the Medical Panel. It is anticipated that the candidate is likely to have a portfolio of other jobs but will have enough flexibility within a job plan to accommodate the travelling requirements. These are planned as far as in advance as is practicable.
The role requires Sport and Exercise Medicine higher specialist training or equivalent experience and qualifications. Experience in the elite sport environment and managing sports injuries is essential.
