Locum Appointment for Service (General Surgery/A&E)
We currently have full-time fixed term vacancies from August 2017 for 4 months initially (with the potential to extend further)
£31,220 - £41,305 per annum, plus banding supplement 2B

Based at the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick, these posts would suit doctors who have just completed FY2 training and are considering a surgery or general practice career waiting for a StR position. They would also suit a GP Trainee who had completed training but who wished further surgical and A&E experience.
Full GMC registration with a current licence to practice is essential for this role.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to experience acute surgical care in a Remote & Rural setting. The post provides exposure to general surgery, urology, orthopaedic trauma, emergency gynaecology, upper and lower GI endoscopy and surgical aspects of emergency medicine. There is an opportunity to develop clinical and professional competence in a purposeful and supervised manner, often working under direct consultant supervision.

These posts attract a relocation package up to £1333 for a 4 month post & £2000 for a 6 month post and Distant Islands Allowance of £1,738 per annum (pro rata)
