This is a substantive post for a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a sub-specialty interest in Neuro-ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, to join a team of consultant colleagues providing Vitreoretinal surgery within the Ophthalmic Division.

The post-holder will contribute to and develop a Neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus service delivered to the population of Central Manchester and a tertiary population of Greater Manchester. The work will be carried out at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and consist of dedicated neuro-ophthalmology clinics, ocular motility clinics, Botulinum toxin clinics as well as a motility theatre. In addition, there is a general workload supporting the on call and Emergency eye department. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of virtual clinics and other innovations within the service to deliver additional capacity. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the strategic development of the service in the context of a fully managed ophthalmology network within Greater Manchester arising from the Devo-Manc changes

Applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register for Ophthalmology or within three months of attaining Specialist registration at the time of interview.
