Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. The successful applicant will join a team of five other Pain Specialists/Consultant Anaesthetists and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist providing a well established chronic pain service, and a larger team of anaesthetists sharing in the delivery of anaesthetics. The chronic pain service is supported by a large team of experienced nurses, providing pain management services. The service maintains close working relations with the Acute Pain and Palliative Care teams.
The development of the chronic pain service is high on Addenbrooke’s and the local commissioners’ agenda and progress is being made with them in identifying the options for expansion.
The post has 5 programmed activities for pain medicine and offers the successful applicant a unique opportunity to participate in the development of a fully integrated and comprehensive service.
Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCST at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
Applicants must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
