An excellent opportunity has arisen to become part of the Gastroenterology team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. This post is for a full-time Consultant Gastroenterologist. Applications are welcome from those unable to work full-time for personal reasons. If two suitable applicants were interested in a job share this post could be filled on the basis of two part-time appointments. Full consideration will be given to applicants who wish to apply for a reduced or part-time contract.
You will have excellent facilities with the department delivering a full range of endoscopic interventions including EMR (Upper and Lower GI), EUS, ERCP, Capsule endoscopy, Oesophageal physiology, fibroscanning, breath testing and a full range of upper GI and lower GI procedures.
SaTH is a national bowel cancer screening centre and a centre for the new Bowelscope programme. SaTH runs basic and TTT colonoscopy courses. The post will attract 11 PAs. The Gastroenterologists provide a 1 in 8 (1 in 9 with this post) out of hours Endoscopy rota but are not on the acute medical take rota.
This post will provide opportunities for you to develop a specialist interest of your choice working in one of the most beautiful parts of the country with excellent road and rail connections, excellent schools and houses working with a large group of consultants and specialist nurses.

The Department of Gastroenterology provides a service to the county of Shropshire and Mid Wales. It currently consists of 8 Consultant Physicians working within a single management structure across both Hospital sites.
You must possess Full Registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practise and it is essential that you are eligible for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), CESR or European Community Rights.
