Applications are invited for a consultant post in cellular pathology to join the dynamic team at Royal Derby Hospital.

The Cellular Pathology Department at Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is based on the site of Royal Derby Hospital and serves a population of 600,000.

The Department is a UKAS accredited clinically led modern laboratory, which has pioneered extended biomedical scientist dissection and is a designated centre for many cancer sites, the regional centre for cytology screening, and a pilot site for biomedical scientist reporting and has state of the art mortuary facilities. There is an appetite for continuing laboratory transformation and advances in modern laboratory technology are em-braced.

Subspecialist reporting is well developed and as a consequence of retirement and expansion of services there is a range of opportunities available.

The department is committed to both undergraduate and postgraduate education. A commitment to the autopsy service is not essential but would be desirable.

We employ over 8,500 staff with annual budget of £475 million. Our vision is to build on these achievements, Taking pride in caring.

Derby is an historic city, which lies at the heart of some of England’s most magnificent countryside. The Derbyshire Dales and Peak District National Park are only a short drive away, with the spa towns of Ashbourne, Matlock and Buxton within easy reach.
