Full Time Consultant post in Liaison Psychiatry
This post, along with a recent expansion of the liaison multidisciplinary team, represents a commitment to maintain and develop the work of the Liaison psychiatry service in NHS Ayrshire & Arran. You will work in collaboration with the other Consultant Liaison Psychiatrists to share Consultant responsibilities in clinical work, service development, clinical governance, education, and managerial aspects of the service. There are opportunities to develop specific areas of interest/expertise within liaison psychiatry.
The NHS Ayrshire & Arran Psychiatric Liaison and Alcohol Liaison team is based at University Hospital Crosshouse and provides a service to both University Hospitals Ayr and Crosshouse, with 7 day per week psychiatric input for general hospital patients presenting with self harm, alcohol problems and A&E patients with mental health problems, plus in-patient and out-patient services for patients who have both mental health and physical health components to their presentation.
Liaison Psychiatry Services are managed within Adult Mental Health, directed to the over 16 and under 65 age group (280,000 people). There are good working links with local health psychologists, social workers, general hospital staff, and colleagues within psychiatry.
