Consultant in Anaesthesia
Applications are invited for a new Consultant Anaesthetist (due to service development), with skills to complement those already within the department. The Department will support a successful candidate to develop a sub specialty interest where possible.
University Hospital Ayr is a modern general hospital of some 343 beds. The Anaesthetic Directorate provides a service covering a population of 375,000. The hospital has a range of laboratory and investigative facilities, provides acute and elective care in orthopaedics, general surgery, an area wide service for vascular, ophthalmology and urology surgery, plus all aspects of general medicine, cardiology, respiratory, endocrinology, haematology and oncology. The regional renal service is provided from University Hospital Crosshouse however, there is a community satellite dialysis unit at University Hospital Ayr.
This post currently will include a whole day Urology list and CEPOD responsibilities and would potentially be able to accommodate interests in Obstetrics (at University Hospital, Crosshouse), Emergency theatre or vascular surgery. Sessions in Intensive Care may also become available.
ALS, ATLS and APLS courses are taught in AAHB throughout the year, with an extensive commitment to undergraduate medical student teaching in Anaesthesia and ICU. The successful candidate will be supported and encouraged to develop within the role.
