Consultants in Emergency Medicine
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust was formed on 1 st October 2013, following the merger of Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich.
The Trust is seeking to appoint Consultants in Emergency Medicine based at both the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) sites. These appointments represent an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic ED team within a new organisation and as such be involved in the development of this vibrant emergency department and innovative Trust.
At Queen Elizabeth the department sees around 150,000 emergency patients a year whilst at Lewisham Hospital there are approximately 116,000, both sites see patients with a diverse range of pathology and trauma. As a Trust we are a committed, multi-professional team who provide much-valued hospital and community services as one organisation.
We offer medical, surgical and emergency services to local residents, and also provide a range of specialist services for South East London and beyond. Our community health professionals work closely with the hospital and GPs to provide support to adults and children in their own homes and across a range of health centres and clinics.
The Emergency Department has considerable educational expertise with instructors in ALS, ATLS and APLS courses as well as examiners in MCEM and FCEM. The successful candidates would be encouraged to develop an area of expertise or sub-specialisation within Emergency Medicine.
