Consultant Colorectal and Laparoscopic Surgeon
Applications are invited for a Consultant Colorectal and Laparoscopic Surgeon. This is a substantive appointment from 1 October 2017 for the reason of replacement of a retiring surgeon, based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) and an on-call commitment.
This is an excellent opportunity within the General Surgery department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust for a consultant Colorectal and General surgeon with laparoscopic expertise to join an existing team of four full time colorectal surgeons. Laparoscopic colorectal surgery is well established across the trust and the successful applicant would complement the current team as well as contributing to the elective and emergency general surgery workload. It is essential that the applicant can demonstrate appropriate training and experience in laparoscopic colorectal and general surgery.
Following the investment of £150 million in major new facilities at the Lister, along with a £30 million New QEII hospital built by the local clinical commissioning group, the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust has brought together all its specialist emergency and inpatient services at the Stevenage hospital. Our state-of–the-art clinical facilities include a major new Emergency Department, the Hertfordshire Cardiology Centre (which includes a 24/7 PPCI service), new scanning centre, McMillan chemotherapy unit, ward, endoscopy and theatre blocks.
