Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist with an interest in vascular/non vascular interventional radiology.

This is a replacement post due to retirement, to support specific areas of development within the Trust i.e. vascular, Hepatobiliary, GI and GU services.

We aim to appoint a substantive consultant general radiologist with subspecialty interest in predominantly vascular interventional radiology. The Trust is one of the two regional vascular centres for Lancashire and South Cumbria vascular network.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to expand and develop the diagnostic services offered by a busy radiology department with a strong record in teaching and training.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly and cohesive team of 20.5 existing WTE consultant radiologists serving a combined population of just over 510,000 working across two main sites which together comprise the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Trust consists of the local districts of Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn, Ribble Valley, Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale. Royal Blackburn Hospital which is the acute site is a recently opened PFI hospital with a Siemens managed equipment service.

There is a Trust-wide Siemens PACS and CRIS radiology information system.  Each department has a full range of digital imaging equipment. Across the district there are 3 multi slice CT scanners, 2 x 1.5T MRI scanners and a purpose built nuclear medicine department. A teleradiology system has been installed in order to enable the transfer of images between the departments and radiologists’ homes for on-call purposes.

The Department is part of the Manchester Radiology Training Scheme with up to 6 trainees in the Department at any one time. SpRs participate in their own on call rota.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCST or CCT at the time of the interview and have appropriate recognised training in General and Interventional radiology.
