This is a substantive post to be jointly appointed between Hereford / Wye Valley and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts. This role is equivalent to a unit lead position with a major responsibility for managing low risk cases within an MDT framework and, as such, there is no subspecialist surgical activity.

The successful candidate will join an established gynaecological oncology team of 3 Gynaecological Oncologists that provides specialist gynaecological oncology services at a unit level for Gloucestershire and tertiary referral services for the 3 Counties Cancer Network. This covers the populations of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South Worcestershire of approximately 1.2 million. Specialist inpatient services are based at Cheltenham General Hospital where the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre is located. Approximately 250 new cases are seen annually. Patients are managed on a surgical ward based at Cheltenham General Hospital with colorectal and urological services located on the same site.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust was formed in April 2002 and became a second wave Foundation Trust in July 2004. Gloucestershire is well known for its natural beauty, cultural and leisure activities, and many staff live in and around Cheltenham, The Cotswolds and The Forest of Dean. The county has many excellent state and private schools as well as colleges of higher education and its own university.  There is good rail and road access to Bristol, Birmingham, South Wales and London.

Whole-time, part-time or job share applicants welcome.  Relocation expenses, flexible working arrangements and support with childcare are available.
