Full or Part-Time
We are in the unique position of increasing the size of our consultant team, which is a really positive thing; for our trust, and for you!
Our JAG accredited endoscopy unit has three rooms, equipped with modern Olympus video-endoscopy equipment including “Scope Guide” and endoscopic ultrasound, together with a ten bedded recovery area and dedicated Endoscopy Unit staff. We are also an accredited Bowel Cancer Screening Colonoscopy Centre.
We hope to increase the specialities within the department. ERCP is not required for this post, but other sub-specialities would be welcomed, including hepatology, nutrition or an interest in small bowel imaging. Most interests could be accommodated. You will be well supported with a large gastroenterology ward of 40 beds.
We have an active R&D unit which provides support for research projects and clinical trials as well as good links with regional and supra regional specialist Units in Leicester, Nottingham and Birmingham.
This post currently involves commitment to an on call rota, shared with the consultants in other specialities. The daytime medical take is managed by acute physicians and for other specialities the acute on-call general commitment involves about 1 in 16 evening medical takes, and about 7 weekends per year at present, with days off in the week following. There is also a 1 in 7 rota for emergency endoscopy running concurrently with the medical rota and both of these rotas will reduce with the expansion of consultant numbers across the Division of Medicine.
