Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh (WWL) NHS Foundation Trust – 7 day working National Pilot Trust.
The Trust has been chosen as a designated early adopter for 7 day working since 2013 and will be moving our Emergency Care Centre to a full Consultant delivered service. The centre includes 53 Clinical Assessment beds and a high-performing Ambulatory unit, working closely with ED in the Emergency Care Centre area.
A key responsibility will be the display of effective leadership in setting the direction and organisational arrangements. The Trust has established a Management and Leadership Development Strategy to ensure our senior management team are equipped to take this dynamic agenda forward.
You will be joining our highly motivated team of six Consultants in managing an Emergency Care Centre which has been identified as the best performing in the North West and fifth overall in the Country.
The Department has also been very successful in recruiting to maintain a full complement of Specialty Doctors who are instrumental to providing a high quality service for our patients. The team has previously received recognition for this by winning the highest award for quality.
We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic Consultants who wish to work with us using the 7 day working model to improve patient outcomes. The needs of our patients are at the heart of everything we do, but we are equally committed to the well being of our clinical teams. Your contribution will be highly valued and your further development encouraged.
The work will be based at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan. Applicants must have obtained MRCP and must be on the specialist register or be within six months of attaining the CCT at the interview stage. Applicants for full or part time posts are welcome to apply. Subspecialty interest will be favourably looked into if candidate is successful in interview
The Trust has excellent postgraduate and research facilities and supports study leave with funding up to an agreed limit. WWL NHS Foundation Trust is an Associated Teaching Hospital of the University of Manchester from where we get medical students attachments to the Department.
The borough is bordered by the M6/M61 and M62 motorways as well as the main west coast rail line providing excellent access to Manchester and Liverpool, The Lake District and Northwest coastline. Relocation packages are available.
