Clinical Director – Medical Services
MidCentral Health, Palmerston North, New Zealand

MidCentral District Health Board (MDHB) is seeking applications from vocationally registered physicians, with a general medicine and/or medicine sub specialty scope of practice for the position of Clinical Director, Medical Services at MidCentral Health. This is a part time position of 0.5 FTE. The successful applicant will also undertake up to 0.5FTE of clinical work in their specialty area/s.

This is an exciting time to join MDHB as it is embarking upon a transformational change programme to firmly establish itself as a high performing health system.

To support this change MDHB is moving from a funder/provider approach to an integrated service /cluster model where services are focused on consumer/patients groups, with each having responsibility for the full continuum of care and across both MidCentral and our partner provider agencies.  The cluster -model will bring together clinical, operational and portfolio management functions to consider and allocate resources in support of an agreed district level service plan.  This move places us well to further reduce service duplication and fragmentation, to move care into and closer to people’s homes, and to achieve an integrated and community focused high performing health system.

The Clinical Director in partnership with the Operations Director, Hospital Services will be responsible for the strategic and operational direction, leadership and clinical development of the Service as we move towards achieving the strategic direction of the organisation. In addition the leadership role combines with the Chief Medical Officer and other Clinical Directors across the organisation to provide professional medical leadership for MidCentral Health.

MidCentral Health is looking for a clinician who is able to:

•    Show passion and commitment in working towards the goals of the DHB
•    Provide clear direction and leadership
•    Demonstrate our organisational values of compassion, respect, courage, and accountability
•    Work autonomously, while contributing to team culture, to achieve quality and excellence by design
•    Has courage and is willing to challenge the status quo
•    Inspire and motivate others to commit to and work toward the goals of the service and the organisation
•    Empower others in their team
•    Build and maintain relationships within both the medical and multidisciplinary team and across the organisation.
