Applications are invited for a new and exciting post offering a unique opportunity to be part of an expanding specialist Children’s Hand and Upper Limb Service at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital is the foremost specialist Children’s Hospital for Birmingham and the West Midlands, and serves the paediatric needs of a population of 5.8 million offering all main paediatric services

The appointee will be mainly involved with the Children’s Hand and Upper Limb Service, working closely with Orthopaedic services and other specialties offering a weekly congenital hand and upper limb clinic, an Obstetric Brachial Plexus Service, management of Complex Congenital Forearm Deformities with limb lengthening, dedicated Arthrogryposis clinics, Cerebral palsy clinics, vascular anomalies clinic and management of all types of complex congenital and acquired upper limb conditions, in addition to being part of a team supporting general paediatric plastic surgery .

The Paediatric Plastic Surgery department offers a comprehensive service including Craniofacial, Cleft lip and Palate, Ear Reconstruction and Burns Surgery as well as Hand Surgery .

An on call rota of 1: 6 is anticipated.

There are opportunities for research and teaching with close collaboration between the Birmingham University and Birmingham Institute of Paediatric Plastic Surgery.
