Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Cardiologist with Special Interest in Heart Failure at Addenbrooke’s and Papworth Hospitals, shortly to be co-located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join and expand our established clinical team of 31 consultants, and represents the third in a series of appointments to the integrated Cambridge Cardiology service.

Cambridge Cardiology has well-developed services in Diagnostics, Coronary and Valve / Structural Interventions, Electrophysiology and Transplant / Mechanical Circulatory Support. The Heart Failure service has benefited from the recent appointment of our new clinical lead, Dr Catriona Bhagra, working with our well established nursing team. You will contribute to the development of the service, from the interface with Primary Care to the care of patients with advanced heart failure. You will also be expected to contribute to the General Cardiology rota at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. A subspecialty interest, linked to heart failure, is welcome but not essential.

Our goal is to successfully integrate high quality preclinical cardiovascular science with a world-leading clinical trials organisation, operating in a University/ Hospital partnership. This will be brought to fruition by the imminent re-location of Papworth hospital - the UK's largest cardiothoracic hospital - to Cambridge Biomedical Campus, and the subsequent foundation of a Heart and Lung Research Institute.

Applicants must be registered with the GMC with a licence to practice and have a CCT in Cardiology (or equivalent).

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
