Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey

We have 4 posts in General Paediatrics due to retirement and vacancies.

The posts are for 10 PAs and are suitable for an acute Paediatrician, with a specialty interest that complements those held by the department. We are especially interested in ambulatory paediatrics, respiratory and CF, safe guarding and cardiology.

As a department we would like to further develop our ambulatory care through the Paediatric assessment unit (PAU) and the interface with the Paediatric emergency department. To support this, the PAU is being expanded to 8 beds.

The new appointees will be an integral part of the Paediatric department and take part in the attending rota on the ward and NICU as well as have an outpatient commitment.

Each week we have two consultants attending, one for Paediatrics, and one for Neonates. During the Paediatric attending week the post holder will be responsible for the Paediatric Ward. When Neonatal attending the post holder will be responsible for the Neonatal unit, and the babies on the Labour ward, postnatal wards and Transitional care.

One of these post will take a leadership role in developing the PAU alongside the senior nursing team. Another post will take the liaison role with the Paed ED to streamline referral pathways and guidelines. We have an established shared care service for CF working with the Royal Brompton Hospital.

There is ring fenced physio, dietetic support and resources for a CF specialty nurse. One of the posts will be responsible for this service. However we are flexible with the subspecialties so please talk to us about this.

If you would like to come and visit or would just like to know a bit more, please contact, Dr Peta Maltby, Consultant - Paediatrics on 01276 604254.
