Need a change of scene, how does 12 months in Wellington grab you?
Capital and Coast DHB has a vacancy for a full-time, locum Radiation Oncologist (up to 12 Months) to join a team of eight Radiation Oncologists at the Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre. This centre is an integrated unit with Medical Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care services. The catchment population is approximately half a million, and one million for HDR and bone marrow transplant services, assessing over 1350 new patients per annum for radiation. Clinicians are site sub-specialised and supported by established MDMs.

Our Varian-equipped centre has three linacs (two Truebeam and one Clinac) in addition to SXR, wide-bore CT and Aria Eclipse patient management and treatment planning systems. A full range of contemporary radiation treatments is provided, including VMAT, SRT (evolving) and IGRT external beam techniques. There is an active HDR service for gynae, prostate and skin cancers. We also have an active program of clinical practice developments with a current focus on extending VMAT and SBRT techniques. This is a training centre, with four registrars and a MOSS/non-trainee to support the service. Wellington hospital is linked to the Otago University Wellington School of Medicine for training medical students and is a training centre for radiation therapists and Medical Physicists.

The hospital has dedicated research facilities and opportunities exist to collaborate with Otago and Victoria University and the Malaghan Institute.

We are looking for a colleague who enjoys working in a team and who has excellent communication skills. We are looking for additional support within the tumour sites of breast, melanoma, lymphoma and possibly Gynae but can be flexible. You would have to be eligible to work in New Zealand as a Radiation Oncologist.

Wellington, Capital of New Zealand, merges big city culture with small town charm and is a wonderful place for a locum stint!
