This is an exciting opportunity to join the public health department who are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to the role of Deputy Director of Public Health: Public Health Services. 

The post holder is one of the most senior members of the Public Health Leadership team and will deputise for the Director of Public Health (DPH) to deliver statutory responsibilities and Norfolk County Council (NCC) priorities.

They will have responsibility for ensuring the delivery of strategies and business plans as well as managing and supervising consultants and specialist teams working on: 

  • Supporting NHS commissioning, health and social care integration and health protection
  • Early years, children and young people’s health and wellbeing 
  • Sexual health
  • The public health aspects of children’s and vulnerable adults safeguarding.

The post holder will be a highly visible leader, not only in the organisation but also across the Norfolk system of public services. 

To be successful in this role you will need to clearly demonstrate a high level of tact, diplomacy and leadership as well as an ability to advise, challenge and advocate to enable effective working across organisational boundaries and influencing without direct authority. You will be on the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists.

Continuity of current contract will be considered for candidates on NHS Hospital consultants/or Agenda for Change Contracts.
