We are currently recruiting for a Research Fellow to be based at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. There is more to the Tees Valley than just breathtaking coastlines and inspiring countryside. Nestled between North Yorkshire and County Durham is where you will find premium patient care. The James Cook University Hospital is a major tertiary and teaching centre with over 1,000 beds, serving a mixed urban and rural population and providing comprehensive regional specialties for 1.5 million people in the Tees Valley and areas of Durham, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

We are ideally looking for a candidate who is currently in training or is looking to apply for a training post who also wants to gain a higher degree. The post will be funded for 2 years and the successful applicant will be expected to successfully complete a project for a higher degree in that time frame.

There will be a unique opportunity as part of this post, to work closely the clinical trials unit delivering multi-centre randomised trials in cardiothoracic surgery.

The key features of the post are to allow the successful individual to maintain and develop operative skills, learn how to apply for research funding and understand the levers for successful delivery of clinical trials in cardiac surgery.

The post will include a day of operating per week but there will be no on call commitment The North East of England is a great place to live and work and offers an exceptional quality of life and work for professionals and their families.
