Applications are invited for this full time post as a Consultant Histopathologist/Cytopathologist at Wye Valley NHS Trust, Hereford.

You will join the team as 1 of 6 Consultants (5 full time, including this one and one part time) to provide a comprehensive histopathology, non-gynae cytopathology and autopsy service based at the County Hospital in Hereford. The department (which is CPA-accredited) is housed in a purpose-built block with mortuary facilities a short walk away.

The pathology laboratory is currently being refurbished under a managed service contract. It is anticipated that the new post-holder will bring and/or evolve special interests which, when integrated with those of the existing consultants, will allow the department to continue to meet and develop its responsibilities to the local health community.

Herefordshire is a predominantly rural County of exceptional natural beauty; Hereford itself is an attractive cathedral city situated on the river Wye, whose main industry is cider making. It lies approximately an hour by road from Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff, with direct rail services to London.

Candidates should possess the FRCPath or equivalent qualification and be on the Specialist Register of the GMC (or within 6 months of obtaining Specialist Registration at the time of the interview).

This post offers an opportunity to join a friendly and dynamic DGH in an outstandingly attractive part of the country.
