We are seeking two enthusiastic Gastroenterology Physicians to join our team of 3 Consultants at University Hospital Crosshouse, who will participate in continuous service improvement and development.

Consultants will be based at University Hospital Crosshouse. The Gastroenterology Unit and our hospital have modern and full range of inpatient, endoscopy and outpatient facilities. We are situated in one of the most scenic parts of the UK, with easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh and with excellent housing, educational and recreational options.

We also have a major commitment to education and close links with Glasgow University, and there is an active undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme.

The posts involve a contribution to general medicine, including an on-call commitment for Acute Medicine. Our team provides a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient service for a population of 220,000 and is supported by 2 Gastroenterology Specialist Nurses, 2 Endoscopy Nurses, and 2 Speciality Doctors. We also work closely with our two colleagues in University Hospital Ayr.

The Gastroenterology team of physicians, surgeons and supporting staff deliver specialist MDT-guided care, screening colonoscopy, ERCP, and other aspects of therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy.

The Terms and Conditions of Service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and each post is offered on a 10 PA basis (2 SPAs plus 8 clinical PA), although opportunities may exist for EPAs subject to service requirements.

Applicants who may wish to work on a part-time or job share basis will be considered.

Both posts will have similar job plans in general gastroenterology, but sub-specialist interests will still be considered. Accreditation in Gastroenterology is essential (dual accreditation in General Medicine desirable).

To enquire informally, please contact Dr A S Taha, Lead Clinician in Gastroenterology (01563 521133), Dr Amir Shah, Consultant Gastroenterologist (01563 521133).
