This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to join the Microbiology team at CMFT, a large teaching hospitals group and the seventh largest provider of specialist services in England. At the heart of the regeneration of Manchester, we’re one of the three Trusts involved in the development of the Single Service for Manchester, with links to the University of Manchester which provide opportunities for education, development and research. All new Consultants are invited to our New Consultant Development Programme, which includes talks and a series of group-based activities with an individual service improvement project.

The Microbiology Laboratory is part of the Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership (MMMP), which is collaboration between Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and Public Health England (PHE). The main laboratory services of the MMMP are provided at two sites: the CMFT site at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) and at the University Hospital of South Manchester (UHSM) site at Wythenshawe Hospital.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Microbiologist who will join a team of 5 Consultant Microbiologists and a Consultant Clinical Scientist. The Microbiology department is in a dynamic period of rapid change and is developing its clinical and laboratory services; the successful applicant will able to contribute to this the development.
