Applicants are invited for a full-time Consultant Radiologist post based at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The post includes Programmed Activities in Cardiothoracic and General Radiology.
The post has arisen as a consequence of an expansion in service and retirement.
The Trust is looking to develop both the cardiac and lung elements of its Cardiothoracic Imaging service. The successful candidates will join a team of 20 radiologists to help deliver Diagnostic Imaging Services to the Trust and local commissioners. The candidates are required to have a subspecialty interest in Cardiothoracic imaging and associated intervention.
Following the investment of £150 million in major new facilities at the Lister, along with a £30 million New QEII hospital built by the local clinical commissioning group, the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust has brought together all its specialist emergency and inpatient services at the Lister hospital site. Our state-of–the-art clinical facilities include a major new Emergency Department, the Hertfordshire Cardiology Centre (which includes a 24/7 PPCI service, McMillan chemotherapy unit, ward, endoscopy and theatre blocks.
There has been considerable recent investment in imaging both on the Lister site and on the New QEII Hospital site with the establishment of an outpatient diagnostic unit that includes CT, MR Ultrasound and purpose built breast unit. The department is fully equipped with 3 MRI (1.5T Siemens, 2 x 3T Siemens), 4 Multislice CT scanners, Nuclear Medicine department, Ultrasound and digital fluoroscopy and interventional suite. The successful candidate will join 2 other whole time Cardiothoracic imaging consultants. The department offers the full range of thoracic imaging services including lung biopsy, Cardiac CT and onsite cardiac MR has recently commenced.
The successful candidate would also play a role in teaching and developing skill mix within the Unit and participate in the MDT meetings. A PACS system is in place with a teleradiology home-link for on-call. The Lister Hospital site is fully accredited for training with 6 SPRs and a Clinical Fellow post. The successful candidate may be expected to work on any of the Trust sites
