Locum Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon
Applications are invited for this 12 month post, which offers the opportunity to support and expand the paediatric orthopaedic services based on the hub and spoke model currently successfully employed by the Paediatric Orthopaedic Department at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. It is envisaged that a substantive post will be advertised in due course.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital serves the local community and the specialist paediatric needs for the West Midlands Region (population of 5.8 million). This Foundation Trust Hospital also enjoys a national and international reputation in a number of highly specialised areas. It is the designated Paediatric Major Trauma Centre for the West Midlands.
The successful candidate will undertake elective clinics and lists. The appointee will join a team of 7 Paediatric Orthopaedic consultants at BCH, providing paediatric orthopaedic services throughout Birmingham, the Black Country and beyond. The post will include responsibilities to the daily trauma list at BCH and the Consultant on-call service at BCH. An on-call rota of 1:8 is anticipated.
Regular outpatient and operating sessions have been identified and a job plan has been prepared. This is a 10 PAs post. There are ample opportunities for research and teaching.
