Consultant Paediatrician with special interest in Childhood Mortality and Morbidity and participate in Greater Manchester SUDC on-call rota.
This is an exciting opportunity for a consultant paediatrician to join the existing team working in the Paediatric Directorate which is part of the Women and Children’s Division of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (PAHT).
This is an excellent opportunity for consultants wishing to work in one of the busiest hospitals in the Northwest. Currently, business plans are in progress to increase capacity in our sites as we have been recognised as a provider of choice by the local population and the Trust is keen to recruit keen and enthusiastic staff to provide the best care for its local population. There is full support of allied services including 24 hour diagnostics, including laboratory services and radiology, with facilities for MRI,
CT, Ultrasound, Gamma Camera and Fluoroscopy.
The team has consultants with a wide range of specialist interests and a keen interest in Medical Education. Six of the Consultants are RCPCH examiners and Dr Bose Haider is the Principal Regional Examiner for the Northwest UK. We are also the host Centre for MRCPCH Clinical Examination and a number of doctors have been supported in passing the MRCPCH exams with a very high success rate among our specialty doctors and trainees. The Trust is now accredited as a University Teaching
Hospital for Manchester Medical School and organises a number of undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes. There are specialist services for Paediatric Infectious Diseases and HIV, Paediatric Diabetes, Secondary Epilepsy and Tertiary Neurology Clinics, Neurodisability, Asthma and Allergy.
The post consists of 10 programmed activities, in accordance with the 2003
Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions and will be based in The Royal Oldham Hospital. The special interest of the team includes Epilepsy, Renal, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and Ambulatory Care.
Candidates who are unable, for personal reasons, to work full time are eligible to apply and, if successful, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with consultant colleagues.
