Consultant Ophthalmologist/Medical Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Uveitis (Behçet’s Disease)
Applications are invited for a Consultant Ophthalmologist with an interest in Uveitis and Behçet’s Disease. The post has been created as a result of National Commissioning awarding Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust one of three National Centres of Excellence for Behçet’s Disease.
The post will be based at the Birmingham Midland Eye Centre, City Hospital.
The successful applicant will be part of a multidisciplinary team spe-cialising in uveitis. The post is suitable for somebody who has trained in surgical or medical ophthalmology.
Applicants must have recent experience in uveitis, such as an ASTO (TSC)/Fellowship training, and show they have an understanding of uveitis and its management as well as a knowledge and experience of undertaking systemic immunosuppression.
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) is required and applicants must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview for the post.
Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is the largest provincial eye unit with 31 Consultants and the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre houses the Academic Unit of Ophthalmology, University of Birmingham.
