Integrated Care Group
We are seeking two consultants with drive, commitment and enthusiasm who will bring a consistent focus to high performance and quality of care, working collaboratively with colleagues and providing clinical leadership to the wider team.
ELHT is one of four Trusts nationwide to be selected as a development site by the Royal College of Physicians Future Hospitals development programme for its frailty pathway. The Medicine for Older People directorate provides a comprehensive service that includes stroke, orthogeriatric medicine, general internal medicine and geriatric medicine.
The posts will work across our hospital sites. Royal Blackburn Hospital is a busy acute site with an active Stroke Unit and an out of hours specialist service that supports 24/7 thrombolysis. The directorate prides itself on its dementia friendly environments and services for orthogeriatric patients, geriatric patients and rehabilitative care. The department also plays a very active role in the local provision of Intermediate Care, with wards based on other hospital sites within the community. We work closely and cooperatively with the Primary Care providers and adult care services for out of hospital care.
You will provide support for the care of medical patients throughout their pathway within the directorate. There will be opportunities to gain experience in speciality outpatient clinics. The post holders will work in partnership with Consultant colleagues, matrons, ward managers, nursing and therapy teams as part of a multi-professional team.
These posts offer the opportunity to live in a multi-cultural area with beautiful locations including the Lake District, the Dales, and the Forest of Bowland on the doorstep. Cities such as Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool are readily accessible by public transport and by road. We have some excellent state and private schools in the area, and desirable areas to live where property is still at realistic prices.
