Locum Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Hip)
South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust invites applications from dynamic and well-motivated individuals for a Locum Consultant post in Trauma and Orthopaedics with an interest in Hip Surgery. A sub-specialist interest and training in complex primary and revision hip arthroplasty and periprosthetic hip fractures is essential. An interest in young adult hip would be welcome too.
This vacancy has arisen following the retirement of our senior Hip Surgeon.
This is a replacement post where the successful candidate will join an existing team of six Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons delivering a comprehensive orthopaedic service and will be part of the consultant general trauma on-call. The substantive post will be advertised soon and is awaiting receipt of Royal College approval. The hospital is a designated Trauma Unit on the North-East Trauma Network. The department is actively involved in teaching medical students from Newcastle University.
The post is whole-time and offers 10 PAs averaged out over a six week period, and is under the terms and conditions of the 2003 consultant contract.
