The Beatrix Children’s Hospital/University Medical Centre Groningen is currently seeking a Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology Specialist

The Beatrix Children’s Hospital (BKZ) is part of the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG) and serves as the academic referral  Centre for the Northern and Eastern part of the Netherlands. The Children’s hospital employs around 800 staff members, of which 70 are paediatricians. On a yearly basis around 6,500 patients are admitted  and 22,000 are seen as outpatients. All paediatric subspecialties are represented, including large intensive care units for neonates (24 beds) and  older children (18 beds).

The focus of care is on children with complex diseases. The hospital is the Dutch Centre for paediatric liver- and  lung transplantations.

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who will work with the other infectious diseases/immunology consultant to provide clinical service for in- and outpatients.  As 1 of 4 paediatric hiv clinics in the Netherlands, we take care of children with hiv and participate in the UMCG specialist Centre for patients with Tuberculosis. Good and practical working relations are in place with the Medical Microbiology Department and Immunology Laboratory.  The hospital promotes Antibiotic Stewardship and supports strategies for Infection Prevention.

Lecturing students and paediatric residents is part of the job. There are excellent opportunities for initiating and collaborative research.

The UMCG will accommodate for Dutch language courses. There are English speaking schools nearby.

The salary ranges from 96.395-140.816 euro/yr, (depending on experience), plus on call supplements, 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end of year gratification.
