Consultant Psychiatrist in Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment and in-Patient Care
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Psychiatrist to work within the Mental Health Crisis Team in Cardiff.
The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership for the multidisciplinary team, working across the in-patient and community part of the North Crisis service. The post holder will also have full time Specialty Doctor support to fulfil this role.
The post holder is expected to have expertise and confidence in assertive management of complex patients needs in the community and to work as part of team and independently to support the team and Community mental health teams. Previous crisis team experience will be welcome.
The crisis team is located in the state-of-the-art new purpose-built hospital. This is an exciting time to join our team as you will play an important part in shaping our community mental health service to a centre of clinical excellence.
The post offers excellent opportunities to develop an area of special responsibility in ECT and work with an exceptional ECT department to enable research in this area. Additional support and training will be negotiated depending on the appointee’s experience and interest as well as service need.
There is a commitment to the Consultant on-call rota (currently 1 in 24) which is supported by an established out-of-hours ST4-6 on-call rota and junior on-call rota to ensure good work life balance.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview. Applicants should also be eligible for Approved Clinician (Wales) and Section 12 approval status.
