The University of Bradford is a world-leading Technology University which has a focus on application of knowledge and research with global impact. Three themes guide our activities; Advanced Health Care, Innovative  Engineering and Sustainable Societies. Following substantial investment in areas related to medicine including a University Digital Health Enterprise Zone we have ambitious plans to develop an innovative Medical school. This will enable us to train doctors within the context of our four key objectives of excellence, sustainability, equality and diversity and internationalisation. We have a strong track record in delivery of postgraduate and undergraduate medical and clinical education across a range of Life Science and Health Care disciplines.

We are now seeking to appoint a Director of Medical Education. You will lead our medical course programme design and work with colleagues across the university and in our Local Education Providers for the development and delivery of learning, teaching and assessment resources of an integrated undergraduate medical programme. You will be required to lead teams of colleagues and work closely with our NHS partners.

In this initial phase of our development, you will represent the programme internally and externally to a wide range of stakeholders. A clinician, you will be experienced in the organisation, planning and delivery of undergraduate medical education in the UK context and have a passion for innovative approaches to provide outstanding medical training.

Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with other healthcare professions and NHS partners. Effective time management skills and ability to co-ordinate the delivery of projects to a tight timescale is essential.

If desired, we shall facilitate the post holder to maintain their clinical practice through a contract with a local NHS provider. Consideration would be given for a fractional appointment and/or a secondment opportunity. Length of fixed-term arrangement is negotiable dependant on circumstances.

Starting salary is competitive. The title of Professor may be conferred on the successful applicant, depending on their experience.

Informal enquiries prior to application may be made to Professor Shirley Congdon, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) (s.congdon@bradford.ac.uk) or Professor Marcus Rattray, Head, School of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences (m.rattray@bradford.ac.uk).
