Consultant Clinical Oncologist
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Clinical Oncologist to commence June 2017.
There will be two new posts that have evolved due to the expansion of services in Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) Oncology Unit following the development of our two linear accelerator service to a newly opened three Linear Accelerator service and two posts are advertised here.
The Radiotherapy Department at Peterborough City Hospital has already earned a reputation for being one of the top performing departments in the country. Currently we have state of the art equipment; all our patients receive online Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) and the latest rotational IMRT techniques are used routinely for all appropriate patients.
We are a committed team of Clinical Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, Radiographers and Physicists delivering comprehensive cancer care to our patients. The department has an enthusiastic research team and recruits to National radiotherapy and chemotherapy trials. The Oncology department enjoys close links with the Haematology and Palliative Care services within the Cancer and Diagnostics Directorate.
The successful applicants would be expected to specialise according to departmental need but special interests of applicants will be considered and some flexibility may be possible.
The sites for the three posts, two of which are advertised here, will together cover breast RT, urology, lymphoma RT, colorectal, UGI/HPB and skin cancers and gynaecology RT. The post holder will work in collaboration with existing Clinical and Medical Oncology colleagues and Clinical Nurse Specialists and consultant radiographer. The gynaecology brachytherapy service will remain under the care of Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
The post holder would be based at PCH where there are many opportunities to be involved in teaching and research.
The appointment will be whole time and employed by North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.
