The Cleveland Clinic is seeking applicants for a Chair of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Cleveland Clinic is an integral component of the Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute along with the Departments of Colorectal Surgery, General Surgery and the Transplantation Center. The Chair is responsible for overall leadership of the Department, including operations, research, quality and safety, recruitment, retention and mentoring of staff. The Department Chair is responsible for the academic mission of the Department, including research and education including the residency training program, with the Program Director reporting directly to the Department Chair. The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department Chair will have a strong academic background, and prior leadership experience while being an outstanding clinician. The Department Chair has corporate management responsibilities and is responsible for the integration of all departmental services into the organization’s strategic plan. This position will report to the Chair of the Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute. 

We are searching for a physician leader to advance the Department into the future. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader with a record of excellence in clinical activities, teaching, and scholarship as well as laudable experience in leadership, administration, mentoring, and program development.  The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is comprised of 6 subspecialty centers with 60 physicians practicing at 15 locations in the Greater Cleveland area.  The individual will support the strategic mission of Cleveland Clinic Health System and have a national and international reputation in the field.  A faculty appointment at rank commensurate with experience is available at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Cleveland Clinic Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute is the first of its kind to unite all specialists within one unique, fully integrated model of care, aimed at optimizing patient experience.
