Specialty Doctor – Palliative Medicine
Full time or part time (minimum 0.6 WTE)
Salary: as per NHS Scales
(FTE £37,547 - £60,168 depending on experience)
Hospice in the Weald is purpose-built with 15 beds, in a glorious rural setting. We have a busy Ward, including day case procedures, a large Hospice in the Home team, a Hospice Day Service, a Counselling and Support service and Hospice Appointments.
Current medical staff includes two Consultants, a Specialty Registrar, a GP trainee and two part time Specialty Doctors. We have close links to the nearby Maidstone Oncology Centre and the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury where our consultants have two sessions per week.
This position is suited to someone who is seeking further specialist palliative care experience and would be ideal for a candidate looking to apply for specialist training in the future, or someone looking for a permanent Specialty Doctor role. There are opportunities to gain experience of palliative care provision in all settings – Hospice Ward, Hospice Day Service, patients’ homes and care homes as well as hospital settings. It is anticipated that this post holder will be able to take part in audit and quality improvement activities as well as educational and research projects. You should be a strong team player with excellent communication and ICT skills.
A part-time or full-time, 12 months fixed-term contract initially, this could also subsequently become a permanent position. We are proud to offer a generous pension scheme, child care vouchers, training and clinical/development opportunities, a cycle to work scheme and the opportunity to buy and sell holiday.
