The Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management, Capital and Coast District Health Board is seeking applications from Pain Physicians who want to be the next Clinical Leader of our service.

Capital and Coast District Health Board's hospitals include Wellington Regional Hospital (servicing a tertiary population of 900,000) and Kenepuru Hospital (a secondary level community hospital). Wellington Regional Hospital is one of the newest hospitals in New Zealand and one of 5 tertiary level teaching hospitals in the country. It is a modern facility with innovative models of care.
The Regional Pain Management Service is a local/ regional inpatient and outpatient service providing care to our patients from a multidisciplinary team. The Department of Pain Management falls within the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management Service and incorporates the Acute Pain Management Service comprising specialist nursing and SMOs and Registrars on rotation from the Department of Anaesthesia.
Clinically this role is responsible for ensuring that all steps necessary are taken to assist patients to achieve optimal health, wellbeing and safety through the provision of appropriate assessment, intervention and education. You will work as part of a dedicated and enthusiastic multidisciplinary team comprising other consultants, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
As the Clinical Leader you would be responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships between management and clinicians to achieving quality outcomes for patients and efficient functioning of services. This means having close communication, good understanding and solid support from their Executive Clinical Director, Executive Operations Director, Operations Manager and Team Leaders.
The department has an active education programme as a credentialed training site and a first year Pain Fellow will be in training.
Applicants must be fully qualified to practise and have vocational registration, or be eligible for specialist registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand. They should be a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA) or hold an equivalent qualification.
