Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Applications are invited for full time (10 PA) Locum Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a specialist interest in head and neck surgery and microvascular reconstruction commencing immediately.
This post is a replacement post for an existing locum and will join a well-established, enthusiastic maxillofacial surgery team with a view to creation of a substantive consultant position. In addition to major head and neck oncology surgery the post will include management of patients with cutaneous malignancies and general maxillofacial surgery. The post will include an on-call commitment of 1:6 with prospective cover for annual and study leave.
The post is based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital where acute services and inpatient facilities are centered, but includes multi-site working as part of a 2 county service for Worcestershire and Herefordshire. Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust serves a population of almost 570,000. It employs 6000 staff and comprises of three hospitals located at Worcester, Kidderminster and Redditch. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service covers the counties of Worcestershire and Herefordshire, giving an extended population base of 800,000.
The Oral and Maxillofacial Department is staffed by five Consultants in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, three Consultant Orthodontists, and there are close links with ENT, Dermatology and Clinical Oncology. The department’s activities are supported by an on-site maxillofacial prosthetics team and laboratory that also provides on call technical assistance.
