Consultant in Stroke Medicine
Applications are invited for a Consultant in Stroke Medicine. This is a substantive appointment, based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs).
This is an excellent opportunity within the Stroke department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The department has just been designated a hub (HASU) and will progress from receiving around seven hundred attendances per annum to around eleven hundred. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and expand our stroke service with an aim to make it 7 day consultant led Stroke Service in near future. We are seeking a dynamic individual with an interest in leadership and the skills to provide high quality stroke care!
The post is negotiable to be integrated with general medicine depending on individual interests. However we are planning to develop 7 day consultant led Stroke service requiring majority of the on- call commitments within the Stroke Department.
We have excellent support from our local GPs, commissioners and at executive/board level within the trust.
Following the investment of £150 million in major new facilities at the Lister, along with a £30 million New QEII hospital built by the local clinical commissioning group, the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust has brought together all its specialist emergency and inpatient services at the Stevenage hospital. Our state-of–the-art clinical facilities include a major new Emergency Department, the Hertfordshire Cardiology Centre (which includes a 24/7 PPCI service), new scanning centre, McMillan chemotherapy unit, ward, endoscopy and theatre blocks.
