Applications are invited for a hybrid consultant post in Acute Medicine and Diabetes & Endocrinology (10PAs). The successful candidate will join the existing team in our Emergency Assessment Unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, who provide acute and emergency care for medical patients accessing the Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join the department of acute medicine and drive service improvements in this department.

This post is one of four new substantive consultant positions due to the expansion of services at the front door. There is recognition of the importance and value of having appropriately trained physicians to lead these services and address the increasing challenges facing the NHS and emergency services.

The hybrid post is split 50:50 with the Centre for Endocrinology, Diabetes And Research (CEDAR). The centre delivers outstanding care in conditions related to diabetes and endocrinology and has a strong reputation in research and collaboration with the University of Surrey. Experience in antenatal care and insulin pump therapy would be ad-vantageous. This is an exciting opportunity to develop new services and pathways within a dynamic and vibrant environment.

Our vision is to provide excellent consultant led care for our patients from the moment they arrive, and to ensure rapid access to the right service at the right time, as well as maximising opportunities for ambulatory care and early discharge.

In addition, the successful candidate will have a pivotal role in junior doctor education and training. We actively encourage special interests and flexible working patterns to support services within acute medicine, education, research and leadership projects.

Possession of MRCP or equivalent qualification is essential and ap-plicants must be holders of a CCT in General Internal Medicine and Diabetes & Endocrinology or be within six months of obtaining such a CCT.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Katherine McCullough, Clinical Director Acute Medicine (Katherine.mccullough@nhs.net), tel: 01483 464049 or Ms Claire Barkley, Specialty Manager, tel: 01483 571122 ext 4530/4321.
