CT1/2 Orthopaedics and Surgery ​

The Trust are looking to appoint Clinical Fellows (CT1/2) in both Orthopaedics and General Surgery. You will have the opportunity to work in one or both of the specialties depending on your requirements/preference. There is also some financial support to work towards your MRCS qualification.


There are dedicated MRCS sessions and for the last 3 years general surgery have achieved 100% pass with all their trainees in securing their MRCS.

You will be mainly ward based, looking after acute trauma admissions and elective orthopaedic patients also attending the Emergency department to assess and start the management of trauma cases. On Call is 1:17 shared with Orthopaedics, and General Surgery at nights and over weekends, and full support and teaching will be given for this.

General Surgery:

The surgical specialties provided are upper GI, Colorectal, Breast and general surgery. There is a visiting vascular service.

The General surgery department offers care to a wide range of UGI/General Surgery conditions and strives to provide patients with individualised clinic care.

Together with their gastroenterology colleagues, the department provide an endoscopy service (including gastroscopy and ERCP).

Salary Range

£30,002 - £39,693 + On Call Supplement

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Full  GMC registration 
  • Minimum 1 year F1 experience ( or equivalent ) in Surgery 
  • Ability to do on-call duties 
  • Experience with drug prescribing and the most common side effects 
  • Fluent English speaker 
  • Experience with basic management of general surgical, urological and orthopaedic emergencies.
