Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeons
The Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, encompassing Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Community Services across Solihull, serves a population of approximately 1.2 million and employs around 11,000 staff.
Applications are invited for motivated and ambitious individuals to join our team of ten full-time Colorectal and General Surgeons who help deliver colorectal and general surgical services across the Trust. The post/s will be HEFT based and across all three sites. Cross-site working is expected. Successful applicants will join a high volume department of Colorectal Surgery with ambitions to develop their specialist services across multiple platforms.
The Department also provides an elective service in General Paediatric Surgery and high volume Emergency General Surgery for both adults and children and would be interested in surgeons who have skills in general paediatric surgery although this is not essential. The successful applicant(s) should demonstrate sub-speciality skills which complement the existing services. The post holder will have responsibilities across the Department including inpatient care and outpatient clinics and including an on call commitment for Emergency General Surgery on a rotational basis. Predictable out of hours duty is incorporated into job plans and is based on a 1:6 team of the week (Upper and lower GI surgeon pair) at Heartlands Hospital and a 1:7 on-call rota at Good Hope Hospital.
