The redevelopment of the Hospital and expansion of the Institute provide the exciting opportunity for this appointment. The post provides the opportunity to work in one of the leading musculoskeletal units in the world which sees large numbers of bone and soft tissue sarcomas.
Candidates are expected to have a specialist interest in bone and soft tissue
pathology and demonstrate experience and commitment to this specialty. You will be based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital but will interact with clinicians in the London Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Service based at University College London NHS Trust. There is no requirement for cytopathology reporting or for performing postmortems. The histopathology laboratory for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is based at Stanmore, headed by Professor Adrienne M Flanagan. The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital provides a comprehensive range of neuromuscular and skeletal health care and acts as a tertiary referral NSCAG-funded centre. You will make up a team of three to provide the Bone and Soft Tissue Histopathology Service. Access to immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology service is available.
Applicants should be in possession of the MRCPath (or equivalent) and be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining the CCST on the date of interview.
