(Three sub-specialty posts with NIV, asthma and sleep)

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals is the regional teaching hospital, providing general acute services to Brighton, Hove and Mid Sussex. In addition it provides tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the south east of England.

Working as one hospital across two sites in Brighton and Haywards Heath, we treat over half a million patients a year.

We are looking for dynamic and innovative clinicians to join our existing complement of ten respiratory consultants. We want to realign our services and consolidate our departmental vision to provide a comprehensive range
of sub-specialist services over and above those already provided and closely link with teaching and research through the medical school.

We are seeking to appoint to three posts:

NIVand HDU: This is a new role, representing investment in the department and an exciting opportunity to develop a domiciliary NIV service and a high dependency infrastructure to deliver high quality care for inpatient NIV (based at RSCH)

Asthma: We will support the post holder to develop and lead the asthma service and establish a difficult asthma clinic (based at RSCH)

Sleep: We are looking to appoint a person with a specialist interest in sleep and ventilation (based at PRH)

We have established subspecialty services that include interstitial lung disease, lung defence and complex infection, TB, lung cancer, EBUS, asthma, allergy, pleural disease and sleep.

More recently we have established an integrated COPD respiratory service. In the near future we plan to develop a new respiratory HDU at the RSCH which will be a core component of the respiratory unit in the new "3Ts" development-a £600M government investment into a brand new hospital at the Brighton campus. In addition the post holder will take part in providing
care for respiratory specialty inpatients and be expected to take an active role in providing respiratory teaching with our partner Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

Brighton is a vibrant seaside city surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are excellent transport links to London and major airports, as well as outstanding schools and leisure facilities.

Please refer to the person specification in the job description with regards to CCT requirements.
