Applications are invited for the above post in the Department of Community Paediatrics based at the Oxford Children’s Hospital, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford.

This is a full-time (10 PA) post to replace a retiring colleague. The successful applicant will join a team of seven Consultant Community Paediatricians. The post-holder’s commitments will include routine Community Paediatrics/neurodisability work including secondary level assessment and management of children with developmental difficulties, special educational needs, and child protection assessments.

The post holder will be required to advise local authority on the health assessment of prospective adopters and foster carers. In addition, the post holder will provide community/neurodisability work for a part of South Oxfordshire and will be expected to provide health support to children attending special schools in the area. Appropriate administrative support will be provided to support this post.

Development of specialist interest and area of expertise within the speciality will be encouraged. Our Community Paediatrics department has a dynamic and vibrant training programme with excellent links to the children’s specialist services and Oxford University medical school. In addition the applicant will be involved in teaching both under- and post-graduates and training Community Paediatric Grid Specialist trainees.

Applicants should possess MRCP/MRCPCH and have appropriate training and experience in assessing and managing children with social communication disorders, other neurodevelopmental disorders and various aspects of social and educational paediatrics. Our department offers full range of assessment for children suspected to have suffered maltreatment including sexual abuse and it is expected that the post holder will participate in the daytime child protection rota.
