Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Haematologist at the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT).

The Haematology Department at the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has a well established and highly performing team treating a broad range of malignant and non-malignant disorders.

The successful applicant will join three full time Consultants, a Specialist Registrar and two full time Clinical Nurse Specialists to complement, strengthen and help further develop the service. This is a full-time (10PA) replacement post and has Royal College of Pathology approval. The Department delivers BCSH Level 2b care to a population of 252,000 from a purpose-built 12-bedded unit with six isolation rooms and an adjoining day case unit. The service has been successfully internally validated against Peer Review standards for Haematology, Chemotherapy and Teenage and Young Adult Services. The haematology laboratory has full UKAS accreditation (February 2016).

We have close links with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as our regional tertiary referral centre, and we are an integral part of the North Trent Haemato-oncology Cancer Network. A supra-regional Extracorporeal Photopheresis service for the treatment of GvHD and CTCL is also provided by the Trust led by Dr Arun Alfred.

There are opportunities to pursue honorary academic positions with the University of Sheffield. We are actively involved in research and promote trial entry for patients where possible.

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is a busy modern hospital with an excellent standard of care. We have excellent transport links, being near to the M1 and M18 as well as Robin Hood and East Midlands international airports. The Hospital is located close to the Peak District National Park.

The appointee will possess full GMC registration, MBChB or equivalent and will be on the Specialist Register or within six months of CCT at the time of interview. The post involves participation in a 1:4 on-call rota. For new Consultants the Job Plan will include 2.5 SPAs for the first year.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the department. For further information or to arrange a visit please contact Dr Richard Went, Dr Arun Alfred or Dr Kathryn Goddard, Consultant Haematologists on 01709 427119 or email richard.went@rothgen.nhs.uk.
