(Replacement Post) with opportunity to apply for position of Honorary Clinical Teacher, University of Exeter Medical School (UEMS)

Applications are invited for this replacement consultant post in the department of Critical Care Medicine, established in recognition of the expansion of the critical care service and the role of consultants in providing excellent clinical care, governance, research and teaching.

The successful candidate will join the Critical Care consultant team of ten, in a large rurally located acute hospital Trust of around 700 beds, serving a resident population of approximately 450,000. The principal responsibilities encompass intensive care, high dependency, and critical care outreach. The post also incorporates a contribution to undergraduate teaching with the University of Exeter Medical School. On-call commitment is to critical care and is a 1:11 frequency with internal cover.

The post will be based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, although the successful candidate may be expected to work some Programmed Activities at the other hospital sites within Cornwall. The present Job Plan is remunerated at 10 PA’s and reviewed annually. Subject to agreement with the Divisional Director, there may be opportunities to work additional programmed activities in the parent specialty of the post holder.
