Initially Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor pending the re-location of the Neurophysiology Service to Llandudno General Hospital

Based on 10 sessions

Remote on call telephone and VPN laptop access may be required to support Clinical Physiologists at weekends and bank holidays between the hours of 0900 and 1700 hrs. This will be calculated in accordance to the Welsh Consultant’s Terms & Conditions agreement and average calls over the first 3 months through the combination of diaries and intensity bandings.

We are seeking a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist to join our team. As a growing department we have a need for a talented and innovative doctor to develop services. Currently we offer EEG, EMG, Evoked Potentials, Sleep and MSLT, Nerve Conduction, Inpatient and Home Video-telemetry. We are based in a dedicated DGH department with portable services and outreach clinics to other DGHs and community hospitals.

North Wales is an area of outstanding natural beauty and offers a myriad of opportunities for outside leisure interests such as sailing from Deganwy, climbing and walking in Snowdonia or Mountain biking in Llandegla. It offers excellent recreational facilities for families and access to higher and further education.

The appointed candidate will be expected to participate actively in the teaching of Undergraduates and Postgraduates. Undergraduate training will contribute to the educational programme of the North Wales Clinical School of Medicine. There are opportunities for Research and Teaching with the University of Wales, Bangor.

Applicants should have MBBS/MBChB or equivalent and/or MRCP equivalent with CCT in Clinical Neurophysiology and be on the GMC’s Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of being admitted to the GMC’s Specialist Register from date of interview.
