Are you an aspiring Physician wishing to gain experience? You may want to
develop your skills while deciding on the direction of your career. Alternatively, you may be starting your career in the UK and need general experience in an NHS hospital. Whatever your motivation, The Ipswich Hospital offers outstanding training opportunities in a friendly, welcoming environment conducive to learning with an experienced and committed faculty.

These post will build upon the knowledge, skills and attributes developed during the first year post qualification and will encompass the generic competencies applicable to all areas of medicine including: team working, the use of evidence and data, time management, communications and IT skills, although the main focus of training will be the assessment and management of the acutely ill patient.

Candidates should have completed 12 months in an F1 or equivalent post and be appropriately registered with the GMC.

Posts will cover a variety of specialties including Medical, Surgical, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics. Rotation posts will be available.

Training opportunities in Ipswich are plentiful and you will have access to these in the same way as colleagues in recognised training posts. You will be offered chances to be involved in research, audit and teaching. Simulation based training sessions are provided in the East Anglia Simulation and Training Centre on site. The hospital runs several ATLS, ALS and EPLS courses and you will be encouraged to attend these.

Ipswich Hospital has a strong track record in the provision of safe and high
quality care. Among its many excellent services are an outstanding trauma and orthopaedics unit, a pioneering emergency assessment unit, a fully accredited gynae-oncology unit, level 2 neonatal care, and nationally recognised expertise in radiotherapy, diabetes and ENT. This hospital’s facilities include the Garrett Anderson Centre, opened in 2008, which provides excellent facilities for A&E, critical care and day surgery. The East Anglian Simulation and Training Centre opened on February 1st 2014. This is a training centre based around a brand new Simulation Suite and is a very exciting development for learning at Ipswich Hospital.

The hospital also has particular strengths in research and education, with strong links to the Universities of Cambridge and East Anglia.
