Ynys y Plant Children’s Centre, Newtown, North Powys, Mid Wales

Full time substantive appointment

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time 10 session post due to the planned retirement of a valued long-term member of our team. The post is based at the child, young people and family centre in Newtown, Mid Wales. We are a small, highly motivated, dedicated group of four consultant community paediatricians covering Powys, mid Wales. There are two well established child development centres providing multidisciplinary assessments and dedicated services by highly trained nursing and allied health professionals.

You would be joining a team experienced in neurodevelopmental assessment with the opportunity to contribute to the development of a more integrated neurodevelopmental pathway, and the creation of two new posts for specialist neurodevelopmental nurses using Welsh Assembly funding.

We as paediatricians operate closely with CAMHS as well as the Integrated Disability Service, a multiagency team comprising representatives from health, social services, education, parenting education support and other voluntary sector services.

If you are an ambitious professional with energy and enthusiasm, who puts families at the heart of all you do, looking for a new opportunity to develop your skills and interests, there is flexibility to accommodate you within our team. In particular an interest in Adoption, Fostering and Looked After Children (LAC) would be welcome. We have a high level of specialist nurse support for assessment and ongoing care for LAC children supporting this service.

The beauty of the surrounding landscape and superior air quality is immediately apparent... You will find house prices very competitive, allowing an excellent standard of living in the area.

Applications from individuals who prefer part time working will be welcomed. All applicants should have MRCP/MRCPCH or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register at the time of interview.

We welcome and expect enquiries and site visits prior to interview. For further information please contact: Rachel Lindoewood, Clinical Director for Women and Children Services and Consultant Community Paediatrician
